TreeKeepers Fall 2024 Course Scholarship Application

Thank you for your interest in the Openlands TreeKeepers Course! This application is for community members who would like to become a TreeKeeper but cannot afford the $150 course fee.

The Fall 2024 TreeKeepers is being held at Columbus Park Refectory: 5701 W Jackson Blvd. Chicago, IL 60644 . The course will begin October 6th and conclude on October 30th.

Individuals who receive a scholarship are required to attend all TreeKeepers course classes.

The dates and times for the classes are as follows:

CLASS 1: Sunday, October 6th, 10 AM - 2 PM
CLASS 2: Wednesday, October 9th, 6 - 8:15 PM (REMOTE)
CLASS 3: Sunday, October 13th, 10 AM - 2PM
CLASS 4: Wednesday, October 16th, 6 - 8:15 PM (REMOTE)
CLASS 5: Saturday, October 19th, 10AM - 2 PM (Planting)
CLASS 6: Sunday, October 20th, 10 AM - 2 PM
CLASS 7: Sunday, October 27th, 10 AM - 2 PM
CLASS 8: Wednesday, October 30th, 6 PM (REMOTE; FINAL EXAM)

Remote classes will be done via zoom and you can join from your home or wherever else is convenient.

All TreeKeepers are expected to volunteer 25 service hours during the year following graduation. If granted a scholarship for the Openlands TreeKeepers Course, scholars will be expected to assist for one hour before or after an in person class to assist with set up or breakdown.*
