- Gala Semi-Dwarf Fruiting Apple (Malus spp.)
- North Star Tart Cherry (Prunus spp.)
- 'Viking' Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa 'Viking')
- Improved Chinese Chestnut (Castanea mollissima 'Improved')
At the event:
- Arrive at your selected time.
- Park your car and sign in.
- Receive educational materials. Planting instructions will be provided.
- Get assistance in loading your tree/s into your vehicle.
- Most trees come in 1 and 3-gallon containers that can fit in most vehicles.
- Apple and Cherry trees come in 10-gallon containers and may require an SUV, van or pickup truck.
Trees must be planted in the ground, not in pots or left inside.

Trees are intended to be planted on private property or with direct coordination, persmission or permitting with a land manager. These trees are not permitted to be planted in City of Chicago parkways, and may not be permitted on other municipal parkways.

Pickup information

Personal contact information will only be used to facilitate the tree giveaway. Planting location will be anonymized and used strictly for project reporting.

See the available trees below and follow the links to learn more about these wonderful species. Most trees will be in 3 gallon containers, approximately 3-4 feet tall. Apple and Cherry trees are in 10-gallon containers (5-7 ft tall) and may require a SUV, van, or pickup truck.

Pickup Time

Please select an available time-slot and arrive promptly at the beginning of that time-slot. Park in the designated area and proceed to the registration table, where you'll receive educational materials and planting instructions, along with a watering bucket and mulch. Our team will assist you in bringing the tree(s) to your car. Once you have your trees, you're all set to head home and plant them in your chosen location. Volunteers receiving trees should pick a time-slot towards the end of their shift.

As a recipient of a tree from this giveaway event, I agree to arrive promptly at my scheduled time-slot. I commit to planting these new trees in a timely fashion, water them weekly and annual mulching during the first 2 growing seasons for my tree(s). I understand that if I do not show up to my designated time-slot, the trees will become available to other residents on a first come, first serve basis.
